Hello Ursula!
I just wanted to thank you and everyone at Computershare for the opportunity to participate in the whole Change a Life project this year.
Obviously the ride and the train were awesome, but at the feedback session on Thursday night I actually had a whole epiphany!!! How impressive to see how all those very busy people were prepared to take time out of their lives and touch sides with why you actually do this whole thing. As Attie says: one must never be tempted to gloss over the formalities.
The presentations by the beneficiaries were each special in their own way, the DNA project for being so slick, but also for the shock value of that Vuka ad. Martin Dreyer (bless his heart) for putting so much of himself into his academy - I will not soon forget those images of him running with an old 2 litre bottle of water next to the athletes in that mud and dust etc.
The project with the teenagers in the I choose project was perhaps the one that took all of us by surprise, largely because those kids could so easily be the kids in our lives.
On a personal level, the way in which you and Stan have been there, up to your elbows in the whole project and also recognising all the supporters and participants always impresses me. You could easily have seen it as just one more aspect of your job, but then it would not have had that same heart-felt quality.
Really admirable!

Dear Stan and Ursula
I am hardly ever at a loss for words but I am now and can only say that I am overwhelmed by your generosity Thank you so much for the gift.
I really appreciated the opportunity to attend the cocktail evening. It was only then that I realised that this was the first time I truely recognised what each undertaking entailed and how passionate the leaders / initiators are about their respective projects. There were times during their feedback presentations when I had tears in my eyes in appreciation and admiration for their courage, determination and above all their enduring spirit to succeed and make a difference.
There are few people in this world who are prepared to take on such challenges and I am glad to have had the opportunity to play a minor role by giving some of my time to your causes.
Once again, thank you,
Kind regards
Lesley Baker

Dear Ursula, Stan, Mnandi, Sue and the rest of your awesome team
I have spent the last few weeks trying to think how I could put into words my feelings around the 2009 Mystery Tour. Suffice it to say that there are not sufficient adjectives in my vocabulary to express my thanks, joy and appreciation for having been allowed to be part of what rates as one of my most memorable cycling experiences of all time.
Guys I have been around the block when it comes to organising cycling events. I have visited events around the world and ridden in many of these, from Vegas to Italy from London to New Zealand. As you are aware I am personally involved in organising a number of events here in South Africa and let me say without fear of being contradicted that what you have pulled off is nothing short of the Holy Grail of cycling experiences. Never in my 20years in this sport have I had so much fun on a bike ever and never before have I seen such attention to detail as I did on this years event. Being so closely involved in the staging of events, I am always looking at what goes on behind the scenes and always fascinated to see how different organisations cope with the various challenges presented. Your logistics team was simply out of this world…. How they delivered with such precision each day and with smiling and albeit sometimes somewhat tired faces is nothing short of a miracle. The attention to detail in every aspect of the event is something I can only marvel at…. You guys are truly something out of this world.
I will treasure the memories of the week for many years and thank you all for allowing me to share with you the time we did in doing good through the sport I so love and cherish. You make me proud to be a South African and even prouder of what you are able to achieve through Cycling.
Yours in Cycling

Dear Stan, Ursula , Mnandi
What an incredible six days – thank you. I will never forget this trip as long as I live nor will I forget all the friends that I have made starting with the three of you. After the six days I felt that I had known you guys for years.
The pre- tour build up, the train, the food, the red wine, the attention to detail, the surprise, the cycling, the people in fact simply everything was incredible.
Thank you again.
Best wishes

Hi Stan & Ursula
Well, hopefully life has returned to normal for you both by now after the 'Amazing Race'!
Thank you again for putting on such a spectacular event — we so enjoyed our night in Bloemfontein, as you read from my last Blog entry, which certainly paints a picture! http://dnaproject.co.za/blog/362
You guys really are one of a kind, and the camaraderie that you have built up around this Cycle race is unique. It is always a pleasure and privilege to be around at your events, as the energy that is generated by the two of yo is actually quite extraordinary. One keeps feeling there is going to be a catch — but that is never the case — it really is a case of two people who have so much to give and in addition, who do so unconditionally.
Thanks again for everything, your ongoing support and your commitment to making a difference in this country.
See you soon!
Kind regards

Hi Stan, & Ursula & the Computershare Team
It is hard to believe that just over a year ago we were all sitting in the ballroom at the Victoria Falls hotel watching the teaser video for this years tour and now it is all over. For you and your organising team you are all propbably thinking - thank goodness!!! For me, I could go and do it all over again......
I just wanted to drop off a note to congratulate all of you on the most memorable event and to thank you for the opportunityto be part of it. I think it is a great privelige to be be part of a tour such as this, but more importantly to be part of the greater goals of "Change a Life". When I look at the progress that Vanessa has made with the DNA Project and the successes that Martin has had in the valley, you must both be very proud of what your untiring efforts have helped achieve in such a short space of time.
Finally, I would like to thank you for the gift of the book that I received on my return. Over the months I have kept all the little cards, handouts etc and have been wondering what to do with them - I should have been smarter and realised that once again you have thought of everything......
Please pass on my congratulations and grateful thanks to all who were involved in such a memorable six days.
kind regards

To Stan, Ursula and the whole Computershare organising team.
The Mystery Cycle Tour event was just outstanding. I have been fortunate to do a number of, and I hesitate to say “similar”, multi day cycle events and can honestly say that this one is the most special by a long way. The teams attention to every smallest detail still leaves me amazed – there are too many to mention. However, arriving back at work yesterday to find the album with my prize-giving photo with Miss SA is just one example. Well done; what an amazing job you have all done. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole event and made some great friendships along the way.
Thank you again for inviting me to take part. I will keep fond memories of this tour forever.
Best regards

Dear Ursula,
Wow, what an incredible experience!! You pulled of another simply outstanding Mystery Tour. If anything it surpassed 2008 in terms of the bonding and camaraderie that was so clearly apparent throughout, both while riding and socialising.
I have done many of these type of events before, but never have I experienced such and incredible sense of togetherness, warmth and willingness, willingness to ride up the most ridiculous hills and willingness to changing lives. This is clear evidence that out of tragedy, good can come, as painful as it is!
Long may Change A Life continue to change lives.
While the cause of Change a Life brings us together, your energy and passion drives us to go the full distance!
Thank you and take care, see you soon.
Gerald.

Well to get back to the reality of business issues was one thing. But what has made my day, is to get back to the book that was sitting on my desk. You have thought of everything. Well done and congrats for completing such a successful tour.
Stan must be very proud of you all.
I’m looking forward to having you at the manor to treat you to some midlands wine and old world charm. Let me know when you are down this side of the country next and I’ll see what our plans are like to meet up at the Lords of the Manor.

Hi Ursula and Stan,
Thanks for the kind wishes and the experience you created for me. You might now understand why Granny’s birthday was such a “push” at our table, I had to hide my secret or I might still be in Moerengon!!!
I have a great day ahead, going to get my 3 kids from playschool now and share my 3 year old boy’s birthday party with him – I think my cake is BEN10 or Spiderman.
Thanks to 2 special people and a special team you captain.

Ok, so I got to my room, mixed emotions, just coming off a major high from the tour & quietly reflecting on the successes of the event and the new friendships/bonds I've made. But honestly, I was just starting to feel a little flat, like I'd just lost something very special to me and not wanting it to slip away. Then I noticed this magnificent, personalized book on the coffee table showcasing the tour and the tingles and shivers immediately coursed through my body and goose bumps appeared on my arms. I guess that says it all really! The trip really did touch me in a way that I am only now becoming comfortable in communicating. So I couldn't let that feeling pass without a note of thanks to you both.
I do know-already- that participating in Change a Life has changed me, let's say maybe just a little for now, but if I am honest it probably has changed me quite a lot and perhaps more than I am willing to admit right now. I will definitely be reflecting on 'but by how much' over the next few weeks/months as that is when I'll really know for sure.
So many thanks for a wonderful tour and this book which will always trigger some beautiful memories.
It would be my honour to do whatever I can to help you promote Change a Life internationally inside and outside Computershare's global network of relationships.
Changing lives isn't easy, but you are proof that with passion, vision and dedication, that it is truly possible. You really are doing something very important and special here in Africa. The business community clearly endorses what you are doing and it wants to partner with you to do more.
You truly are an amazing duo! We all need to keep supporting your partnership so your vision and dreams become a reality.
Thanks for giving me a spot on the '09 tour. Please hold another one for 2010. I definitely plan to return.
Sincere thanks,
Paul Conn

Liewe Ursula (my stunning vriendin)
Hi Kobie,
I arrived back into NY early Thurs morning. Jet lag is now doing what it does best.... So, armed with a little time on my hands, I have some "quality" time to sit down and pen a little note of thanks to you.
I really had such a good time in South Africa and totally enjoyed the Change A Life tour. But I'm still in total awe of your efforts (with Alan) to get me to the top of the mountain on day 3. That's something I'll never forget. I'm not sure anyone else would have succeeded where you did.
So firstly a note of thanks to you for deciding to auction off an offer to help someone concerned about Day 3. That's "stepping up" big time for a good cause. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to take you up on your offer, as your kind contribution coupled with your major efforts on the day helped me achieve a huge personal goal; one that I knew I wasn't properly prepared for. But much more importantly, I got to spend some "quality" time with a really lovely, inspirational person. Your efforts - and your thoughtfulness - on the road on Sunday definitely inspired me.
What's ironic is I'd been telling my friends for weeks before flying to J'burg that the tour was "really all about Day 3". They were quick to say but only after you finish Day 2 and only after you finish Day 1. They were right, of course. Little did I know then that something special would happen to help ease the fear of that particular day.
The world does work in mysterious ways at times. And when a charitable cause also benefits the result really is a beautiful thing. Thank you, Kobie.
I really hope we get the chance to meet again and that we can stay in touch. If you do come across to New York, or if you are ever in London, please let me know. It would be lovely to hang out with you for a few hours in a more relaxed environment! Otherwise, hopefully I'll see you in Malawi.
Cheers/Very best wishes,
Paul
- ps I hope you don't mind me popping this through your fb page. In the unlikely event, you are not the same Kobie-Marie Hamman that I bonded while riding up a steep mountain road earlier this week ;), you should - by now - have worked out that the other K-MH is an awesome lady!
Pas jou mooi op my liewe maat en hoop om jou gou weer te sien.
Alles van die beste

Hi All
Firstly I would like to thank Computershare all their staff and volunteers for a fantastic tour and for all their assistance to my TV crew.
To all the cyclist ........ I was unbelievable impressed with firstly your cycling ability and tremendous willpower and “vasbyt” to finish what you have started.
But above all else it was the spirit in which everything was accomplished and the camaraderie that existed on tour. Our hats off to you guys and ladies for your achievement and also the huge contribution you made to Change a Life.
We managed to capture some awesome footage on tour and even better comments, some that would unfortunately not make the airwaves without some serious beeps.

Dear Ursula,
I really want to thank you for giving me the opportunity to be part of a very special event. As well as enjoying the day to day excitement of the tour and being able to play a small part in its success, it’s knowing that the dedicated recipients will benefit hugely from the funds raised by the generous donations of the sponsors, cyclists and Computershare.
The support crew were great to work with, friendly and committed, prepared to lend a hand where necessary even when it was not one of their specific responsibilities.
Susan and Veronica, you have my complete admiration! The strategic and logistic planning of this tour was difficult to say the least, especially with the different venues many many kilometers from each other. Pulling everything together to produce an exciting, safe, and enjoyable tour was an amazing feat of hard work, expertise, passion and commitment.
Thanks again to you and your team, it was a privilege to work with you all.
Your initiative will undoubtedly continue to flourish for many years.
Kind Regards

Hi Ursula,
I can’t believe that it is over a week now and that your fabulous event has come and gone!!!!! Ursh, I really have to add my name to your ‘fan’ list as I have honestly never attended an event that brought a lump to my throat. When those guys came cycling through that arch, I was finished. I just could not work out what made me feel so emotional, but the vibe, the ‘feel good’ feeling that was engrossed within that little clearing was just unbelievable.
Ursula, it was a great, great event, and a great personal experience for me, so, I really look forward to keeping in touch with you guys – you are FABULOUS,and for me there is nothing better than ‘FABULOUSITY” in life – it covers ‘alles’
Thank you once again, and I look forward to working with you soon again.
